NEPRA notifies Rs2.36 per unit hike in electricity price
The Express Tribune • • 1 min read

The Express Tribune reported that NEPRA has approved a Rs2.36 per-unit electricity charge linked to September’s fuel costs. The monthly adjustment applies to most consumer groups, with lifetime consumers, electric-vehicle charging stations and customers using prepaid tariffs excluded. It will appear as a separate bill item based on units used in September 2026.
The Power Division said the adjustment does not mean the industrial tariff has risen. It described Rs25.30 per unit as a revised marginal rate under a separate package for additional industrial and agricultural consumption, while saying the average industrial rate in October was Rs34.40 per kilowatt-hour, including taxes. The package had covered 6,940 GWh of extra consumption through September, with an estimated Rs43.5 billion in benefits passed to consumers; about 40% of eligible users had benefited.
