Govt assures public of meeting domestic gas demand during winter, hints at 'good news' for fuel prices
Dawn • • 1 min read

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said on Tuesday the government would try to secure enough LPG for winter, as supply disruptions linked to closed Iranian border crossings have pushed cylinders to Rs700-800 per kilogramme in some cases, according to Dawn. He said authorities would also bring in LNG, even at higher cost, if needed to support piped gas supply during the three daily meal periods.
Malik said LPG remained important for rickshaws, cooking and households without piped connections, and accused some sellers of taking advantage of shortages. On fuel prices, he pointed to lower international market rates and suggested the next petrol and diesel revision could bring better news, without giving any figures. He also said the prime minister was leading efforts to build energy security infrastructure, including fuel storage, refineries and the LPG supply chain.
